Robustel Gateway EG5120 with 5G Network Support (EG5120-A2AAZ-5G-A25GL)
The EG5120 gateway is a new generation of industrial gateways offering high computing performance at the edge. This means that data processing takes place directly on the device. The new device removes the limitations associated with transferring large volumes of information to cloud storage, where data would otherwise first need to be collected and processed before relevant information could be sent on to centralized storage. Thanks to its powerful processor, the Robustel IoT Smart Edge Gateway EG5120 processes data locally and forwards only relevant information.
Areas of Use for the EG5120 Gateway
- Warehouse Safety and Efficiency: During handling operations, the system verifies available space and immediately detects overhangs or other risks. Video processing and model evaluation take place directly on the device, with only alerts about specific events sent to internal systems. Sending metadata instead of live video streams significantly reduces data usage and bandwidth requirements.
- Predictive Maintenance: The device continuously collects operational data on vibration and energy consumption via the RS-485/Modbus interface. Integrated data models detect anomalies at their source and publish measured events directly to maintenance platforms using MQTT or REST protocols. Secure information transfer is ensured by an encrypted '>VPN connection.
- Intelligent Traffic Management: The solution combines control units, sensors, and intersection cameras into one integrated system. Vehicle counting and classification take place in real time, while only aggregated summaries are sent to the ITS platform. Two SIM card slots provide redundant, uninterrupted connectivity, and centralized management features simplify supervision of the entire intersection network.
High Performance and 5G Support for Industry
The Robustel EG5120 industrial gateway is an ideal solution for building modern 5G, 4G, 3G, and 2G cellular networks. High computing performance is provided by a quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 processor with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB eMMC flash memory. The device combines the functions of a cellular router and an embedded PC, making it a versatile tool for industrial deployment. It connects automation systems, sensors, and control panels, enabling them to work together efficiently and share data securely.
Debian Operating System, Docker and '>VPN Security
The industrial gateway runs a full Debian operating system that supports thousands of existing and new applications for the ARMv8 architecture (compatible with Raspberry Pi). Docker software also enables applications to be isolated in containers. Integrated '>VPN support ensures secure internet connectivity and encrypted data transmission between the device and the target network.
Integrated Modules and Connectivity
The EG5120-A2AAZ-5G-A25GL model includes a cellular and GPS module. The WiFi module is not part of this model.
