Industrial LTE Router Robustel R1511 with Wi-Fi and RS-232
The Robustel R1511 is a cost-effective solution for wireless communication across 2G, 3G, and 4G (LTE Cat. 4) networks. The device is equipped with dual Ethernet ports in a LAN/WAN configuration and integrated Wi-Fi supporting the 802.11 b/g/n standard. The router enables direct communication with metering systems via an RS-232 interface.
Compact Design and Application Examples
Thanks to its compact dimensions of 91.5 × 91.5 × 31.5 mm, the router is ideal for installation in space-constrained locations, such as metering and monitoring equipment:
- Energy Metering and Switchboards: The router is suitable for remote meter reading and switchboard monitoring. It allows electricity meters, circuit breakers, or inverters using the Modbus protocol to connect to the internet without costly hardware replacements. The device reads data via LTE/Ethernet and sends it to EMS/SCADA systems. Additionally, the RCMS platform provides a tool for efficient mass management and remote updates across the entire network.
- Environmental Monitoring: The router serves as a communication interface for water level sensors and weather stations connected via RS-232. It ensures the transmission of telemetry data over LTE, performs Modbus RTU to TCP conversion, and enables complete remote oversight through RCMS cloud management.
Intelligent Data Management and Modbus Support
Through its RS-232 serial interface or Ethernet, the router supports the Modbus protocol, operating in transparent TCP/UDP transmission mode or serving as a Modbus RTU/ASCII gateway. The acquired data is then sent to a server for further processing, where it can be visualized in the form of graphs, tables, or interactive dashboards.
Dual Data Transmission
For sending critical data to a remote server, the R1511 offers two transmission options: a primary connection via the cellular network (LTE Cat. 4) or utilising local Wi-Fi infrastructure. This flexibility allows for operational cost optimisation and increases data transmission reliability in various operating conditions.
Industrial Network Security
The Robustel R1511 ensures secure connectivity with various VPN options, including IPsec, WireGuard, and OpenVPN.
RobustOS Operating System and Compact Build
The device runs on the RobustOS operating system. Built on the Linux kernel, this system is designed for IoT applications requiring maximum stability and security. Due to its extremely small footprint, the router is an ideal choice for installation in tight spaces such as vending machines, digital signage systems, or metering cabinets.
Centralised Management with RCMS
For maximum operational efficiency, the R1511 router is fully integrated into the Robustel Cloud Manager Service (RCMS) cloud platform. This enables remote management, monitoring, and diagnostics of network devices, significantly reducing operating costs.
