IoT cybersecurity and NÚKIB warnings

The Internet of Things (IoT) is one of the fastest-growing industries in the world, and with it new challenges in cybersecurity come. By 2030, it is expected that over 29 billions of IoT devices will be connected worldwide, bringing not only incredible opportunities, but also risks. The 5G technology, which offers extremely fast and secure wireless connectivity, is a key component in addressing these issues. However, its deployment brings new security challenges that need to be focused on.

One of the main issues arising with the increasing number of IoT devices is the risk of cyberattacks. IoT devices often have vulnerabilities that can be exploited to disrupt the overall security of the network. Therefore, emphasis is placed on the development of intelligent network solutions that will help moderate these threats.  This requires regular security audits, selecting providers with infrastructure focused on current security risks, and adhering to recommended best practices for IoT devices security.

With regard to the IoT cybersecurity, the Czech National Cyber and Information Security Agency (NÚKIB) has made an alarming statement warning about the increasing threats associated with cyberattacks on IoT devices, which could threaten not only individual organizations, but also the entire state infrastructure. NÚKIB recommends enterprises to focus on securing all layers of their IoT systems, from hardware components to communication within 5G networks.

In light of these challenges, it is crucial for companies to invest in quality security solutions and integrate cybersecurity into every phase of IoT systems implementation. This includes not only selecting the right components and providers, but also training employees and implementing regular security audits.

Cellular communication modules that meet security standards are for example these Telit Cinterion modules.
