Robustel EG5120 is a powerful industrial gateway designed for Edge Computing. By processing information locally on the device, it eliminates the unnecessary transfer of large volumes of data to the cloud. This saves both bandwidth and storage capacity, while only relevant information is sent to the higher-level system.
Examples of Use
- Warehouse Safety and Efficiency: Before approaching, the system verifies available space and detects overhangs or other risks. Data processing and model execution take place locally on the device, with only notifications of specific events forwarded to internal systems. Sending metadata instead of full video significantly reduces data traffic and bandwidth requirements.
- Predictive Maintenance: The device collects vibration and energy-consumption data through the RS-485/Modbus interface. Data models evaluate potential anomalies directly at their source, and events are subsequently published to maintenance platforms via MQTT or REST. A secure VPN connection provides reliable protection for transmitted data.
- Intelligent Traffic Management: The solution connects control units, sensors, and cameras in one location. Vehicle counting and classification take place locally on the device, while only final event summaries are sent to the ITS platform. Two SIM card slots provide redundant, uninterrupted connectivity, while centralised management functions simplify overall operation.

High Hardware Performance for Industry
Robustel EG5120 is suitable for building global 4G/3G/2G cellular networks. Compared to previous models, it delivers significantly higher performance through a 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 processor, 2 GB RAM, and 16 GB eMMC flash memory. The device therefore combines the functionality of a cellular router and an embedded PC for versatile industrial applications. It enables easy integration of automation systems, sensors, and control panels, allowing them to cooperate and share data efficiently.
Debian Operating System, Docker and Security
The industrial gateway features a full Debian operating system that supports thousands of existing and new applications based on the ARMv8 architecture (compatible with Raspberry Pi). It is also equipped with Docker for isolating applications in containers. VPN support for secure internet connectivity and encrypted data transmission between the device and the target network comes as standard.
Remote RCMS Management and Extensive Connectivity
The device can be connected to the free RCMS service, which provides remote management, monitoring, and diagnostics, significantly reducing operating costs.
The EG5120-A2CAZ-4L-A06GL model includes integrated modules for cellular networks, GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.3.
